BAYOU

Bayou is a 2D Adventure game based on Voodoo culture, chess and Samourai Jack for its gameplay and artstyle. 

During this adventure, the player explores wide areas of mangroves filled with monsters and enigmas. The game is thought as a giant puzzle, even during the fights. 

We wanted Bayou to be a faithful representation of voodoo far from any cliché of popular culture. This idea directed every one of our decisions. The power of the player makes reference to the chess pieces, which reminds him of his pawn condition. The fact that the player is directly immersed without explanation in the story, means that the player has to read between the lines to understand.
The player lives, along with the character, an initiatory journey.
